Not a Hurrication

At first it felt like a vacation. We stayed in a hotel room in a new city. We went out to restaurants for every meal.

My mom and dad were always on their phone. I knew they were helping people but sometimes I needed to tell them things.

My sister wouldn’t sleep in the bunkbeds at the rental house. She was afraid the top bunk would fall on her and mom and dad were too busy on their phones to save her.

I had a dream my teacher was still in our school. She was trapped and couldn’t get out.  My mom let me call and talk to her. She is safe.

I am at a new school now. I have one friend. I have a good day when the teachers don’t yell.

But I just want to go back to my house and my school. My mom says maybe soon.

I told her I didn’t want to be here anymore. She asked me where I wanted to go. I said heaven.

My mom cried and held me for a long time.

My mom and dad aren’t on their phones that much anymore. We play board games every night.

Pictionary is my favorite.
