Hurricane BFF’s
My parents wouldn’t let me go back into Panama City with them after the hurricane. They said it was too dangerous. I just wanted to see our house and find out if our play house and trampoline were ok. They said no.
We had to go to a new school. We didn’t wear uniforms like we did at my old school. I overheard my new teacher saying that I wear the same outfit every day. We didn’t pack a lot of my clothes from Panama City. I asked my mom to buy me some new clothes. She did.
A friend from my old school got to be in my class at my new school. We did everything together. Ate lunch together. Played frisbee at recess together. One time I threw the frisbee over the fence but the teachers never found out.
We were friends before but now we are best friends.
My parents told me we got a new roof and we get to move home. I am happy and I am sad. I missed the Thanksgiving performance at my old school and now I am going to miss the Spring performance at my new school.
I sobbed the night we left. I hated leaving my friend at that school all by herself. She needs me. I am the only one there who knows what it is like to be in a hurricane.
